This London bookshop, long closed, was immortalised in the book of the same name by Helen Hanff. The Times newspaper for 22 January 2001 carried, on page 19, the obituary of Leo Marks, the son of the proprietor. Leo Marks was born into a devout Jewish family. He was a friend of Hanff and had a distinguished career as a World War II cryptographer. His father was the antiquarian bookseller in Hanff's book.
