Fruit Wrappers
Part of the World of Fruit Labels

Document size: about 13 A4 pages when printed

Copyright Declaration: Copyright [©] in the designs of the fruit wrappers displayed on this site belongs to the respective owners. Where Registered Trade Mark [®], Trade Mark [™], Registered Mark [RM] or Marca Registrada [MR] appear on a fruit wrapper these refer to the owners of the mark.

Unlike fruit labels where the limited space is tightly filled with design elements, many fruit wrapper designs are mostly composed of blank space on the tissue paper backing - the design itself occupies not much more than about ten or twelve percent of the total area. To show the blank spaces too would increase considerably the size of the image files and consequently the downloading times. Most of the images have therefore been cropped to remove the blank spaces.

More than 170 small images (average size: 10.4 Kbytes) totalling about 1.75 MBytes are displayed on this page. In order to reduce the downloading time the images shown are all quite small. Click on an image to display a much larger version (average size: 158 KBytes) which will be downloaded individually. The time required might exceed 15 seconds.

There are several other fruit wrapper web-sites. Here are a few ....

Trevor Appleton (trevor@woldsweather.co.uk) is offering his collection of fruit wrappers for sale. They appear to date from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.

This paper is the largest which I have acquired. Its dimensions are 48.7cm wide X 69.6cm long. Only a small segment is shown above. A single motif is about 4.0cm W X 4.7cm H. It was stuffed between two large papayas and it was probably used as protective packing and not as a wrapper.
